Automation and precision: insights from the TechniShow in Utrecht
March 31, 2026

The TechniShow in the Netherlands is one of the most important trade fairs for us in the Benelux region. Together with our Dutch partner LIMAS, we showed how we are tackling the current problems in manufacturing: A shortage of skilled workers and the pressure to produce ever more precisely in less time.

Machine and automation from a single source

In the video, Bas Blomen from LIMAS talks about the interface problem with automation, which is a concern for many companies. The machine often comes from one manufacturer and the robot from another. If there is a problem, one blames the other.

SPINNER is different. We supply the automation in-house:

  • You have a central contact person. If something goes wrong, you call a technician who knows the entire system.
  • The entire system has a consistent operating concept: anyone who can operate the machine can also handle the robot or palletizer. This saves time when familiarizing yourself with the system and makes it much easier to solve problems on a day-to-day basis.

What we had on the stand in Utrecht

  • 5-axis machining center U5-630 with ROBOBOXtreme: This is our answer to the question of how to get more spindle hours out of a shift. The U5 is a workhorse for 5-sided machining anyway. In combination with the ROBOBOXtreme, it becomes a self-sufficient production cell. The highlight: the cell is compact and can be operated without the need for lengthy programming of third-party software. This means you can also run smaller batches automatically without the set-up time eating into your profits.
  • Ultra-fine turning center Microturn: It's all about precision that's hard to find anywhere else. The secret of the Microturn is the concept of decoupled axes. We consistently separate the travel paths from each other so that inaccuracies cannot add up. The result is extreme dimensional accuracy in individual and series production. Anyone turning highly complex parts where the last micron counts needs precisely this level of design rigidity.
  • Universal lathe TC600: The classic for the workshop. In Utrecht, we showed the variant with main and sub-spindle and turret with Y-axis. This is the typical machine for anyone who wants to remove 80% of all turned parts completely finished from the machine without having to reclamp them on a second machine.
  • Synchronous turning machine TTS Duplex: When cycle time is of the essence, the TTS is in its element. Thanks to the main and sub-spindle and two turrets, it can work on your workpieces simultaneously and flexibly. This halves the throughput time for many components and ensures a massive output on a small footprint.
  • Compact 5-axis center VC850-5A: For all those who want to switch to 5 axes or have little space in the hall. The VC850-5A is robustly built and delivers the dynamics you need for modern milling strategies.

Regional proximity as a success factor

There is a simple reason why we have been working closely with LIMAS for many years: We don't want our customers in the Benelux countries to be left on their own. Short distances for spare parts and a partner who speaks the language of the workshop are more important to us than any marketing promise.
